Women Like Us

Bringing women and employers together with flexible work

The Women Like Us team

People like working at Women Like Us. We are a dynamic, rapidly growing organisation that values flexibility and exemplifies the work-life balance we promote. Most importantly, we enjoy what we do!

We have four core areas of activity: outreach, career coaching, recruitment and partnerships, and we’re managed by our business support team.

So, scroll down to read more about our teams below. Better still, why not get in touch to discuss joining us? As a growing organisation, we are always interested to hear from people, so call us on 020 7281 6522 and ask to speak to our HR Manager, Sue White. Or email your details from here.

Outreach

Our outreach team manages our partnerships with schools, where we recruit and train Women Like Us reps to promote our service at the school gates.

Karen Mattison is our director of outreach. She works closely with our school development managers to oversee our schools programme in north and south London. Our outreach team helps new schools come on board, and meets with our Women Like Us reps at half-termly coffee mornings to make sure that our service responds to the needs of local women.

Partnerships

Our partnership team works with local authorities and regional agencies to help women with children get back to work. They deliver a range of contracts targeting women from all different backgrounds, and also partner with other local organisations and training providers that support women.

Emma Stewart is our director of partnerships, working with local, regional and national agencies to develop and implement the rollout of our model across London and beyond.

Emma works closely with our Policy and Public Affairs Manager, focusing on our policy work with regional and central government. Other members of the team are responsible for tendering for contract opportunities and overseeing the management of contracts which enable us to deliver our service free of charge for women with children.

Career coaching

Our team of qualified career coaches provides an invaluable personal service to each of our clients who needs to prepare for life back in the workplace, make some sort of change in their career, clarify their work skills, and ultimately find the right job.

Margaret Cheng is the director of our team of professional coaches, who have a broad range of HR and coaching expertise across the corporate, public and private sectors.

Our coaches specialise in managing transition in careers, advising on job searching and applications, starting up your own business or supporting women who have moved to the UK for the first time. We also provide consultancy services to employers on flexible working.

Recruitment

Our recruitment team specialises in part-time vacancies. They are adept at finding the right opportunities for women who are looking for flexible work. They provide a professional recruitment service for employers, by finding high calibre, suitable candidates.

David Curtis is the director of our recruitment team. The team has expertise in helping organisations in the initial stages of looking into how flexible working could benefit their business. We can help with job design and write the job descriptions for vacancies placed with us.

A team of dedicated recruitment managers then manage the process of finding suitable candidates for each vacancy. Their skills include candidate searching, shortlisting, interviewing and skills testing for the jobs on our site. They also provide advice and support to women in their job hunting.

Business support

Our business support team manages the teams and the internal infrastructure at Women Like Us, underpinning each core activity with back-office resource, systems and indispensable support.

The responsibilities of the business support team include: overseeing the running of our offices in Archway and London Bridge, providing administrative support for all the teams, managing our finances, managing our ICT systems and managing our internal HR.
