Coaching workshops
Women Like Us runs a programme of career coaching workshops, available at no cost to women with children who live in London and who are not working, or working less than 16 hours a week. Places on the workshops are subject to availability. To find out if we can offer you a free place on this programme, which is funded by our sponsors, click here to register with us.
We will get back to you to let you know if you qualify, and invite you to come along to one of our introduction mornings. This is a great opportunity to meet with our team, and find out more about how we can help you. (If you don’t qualify for free support, the Women Like Us recruitment team can still help you with your job search, and you may be interested in individual career coaching.)
Our career coaching programme is designed to support you no matter what stage you are at on your journey back to work.
You will have access to a range of coaching workshops (see details below). These group sessions are a great way to be coached by a qualified professional and share ideas with other women. Throughout your programme, our team of career coaches is on hand to support your decisions along the way. You will also receive a copy of our ‘Journey Back to Work’ workbook, which is a practical toolkit with job search advice, CV and interview guidance and exercises to help shape your career thinking.
Read below to find out about some of the workshops we offer….
CV workshop (3-hour group session)
If you’ve never written a CV before, or haven’t written one for a long time, this workshop will guide you on best practice and construction. Advice will also be given on how to write an impressive, engaging covering letter.
Interview skills (3-hour group session)
This session is suitable for women with a clear idea of the job they want, but who may not have done an interview for a long time. It provides an ideal opportunity to practise your interview technique, get some feedback and advice, discuss how to reply to commonly asked questions and try out behavioural interview techniques.
Career Coaching workshops (3-hour group sessions)
These are ideal if you are just beginning to think about going back to work and need to spend some time focusing on yourself again, exploring how you feel about returning to work, what is important to you now, what it is you want to do, and how you are going to do it.
You will also get the chance to think through what you can offer employers, identifying your transferable skills and how you can use them.
Networking (3-hour group session)
This workshop provides an opportunity to learn how networking can make a huge difference to your job search. You will be able to practise networking techniques in a supportive environment, improving your skills and boosting your confidence. You will leave the workshop with new contacts and an action plan.
Starting your own business (3½ hour group session)
This workshop is suitable for women who are thinking about setting up their own business, or who want to be their own boss. You will be able to think about the issues involved, clarify your goals and get ideas about where to go for further advice. The session will help you work out if setting up a business is for you.
