Legal eagles need experienced flyers
Nick Pelmont runs a growing legal practice. He wants to employ part-time to suit his workload and his budget, but he needs experienced professionals for the roles. His decision to tap into the vast career experience of women returners has proved successful and he argues the case for looking no further than the school gates.
“I am always on the lookout for the best way to recruit,” says Nick Pelmont of Cramer Pelmont. “When I first found out about Women Like Us, it seemed so simple and straightforward. Three successful recruits later, it has not disappointed.
“I am a partner of a growing legal practice in north London, and at first I was looking for a person to run our front-of-house. Getting someone in with excellent professionalism and experience was crucial, and I knew that this profile would match well with women who were looking to get back into work after a career break. Women Like Us presented me with two solutions, one woman who could work reduced hours and two others who could job share. I went with the first option and have not looked back since. A few months later, when our team was expanding and we needed a legal secretary, I had no hesitation in coming back to Women Like Us. And I even used them again when I needed someone for my personal property business.
“What’s made the difference for me is that I can get access to women who have successful careers behind them. The Women Like Us school gates network is a rich vein of talent and experience. Women returners are a real asset and can often contribute well beyond the basic job description. And by being a supporter of part-time working arrangements, I always get a better calibre of candidate. Where else do I need to look?”
