• Would you like to train to be a counsellor for children?

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Women Like Us! Our offices are closing for the festive break on 19 December at 5.30pm, and will re-open on 5 January, so this is the last email you will receive for a couple of weeks.

Here's something to think about over the Christmas break: the possibility of re-training for a fulfilling role as a counsellor for children. Scroll to the end of this email for further details.

2008 has been a landmark year for women who want to return to work – flexible working is definitely on the agenda now for all businesses. Women are beginning to find that there really are options to find part-time work at a level that uses their skills. Despite our troubled economy, the future for people seeking part-time work is promising…

…talking of which, we have some great opportunities on the jobs board this week:

An IT and web development consultancy dedicated to tackling the ‘information explosion’ faced by today’s businesses, is looking for an experienced Bookkeeper (14-16 hrs/wk, flexible hours) at its Liverpool Street office. Clients include exciting ‘blue chip’ companies and governmental organisations.

Do you have a passion for the third sector? A charity and social enterprise that works with disaffected young people in Deptford needs a Business Development Officer (30-35 hrs/wk) who can improve the effectiveness of its projects and help take the organisation forward. Experience of operational management and the timely delivery of projects is highly desired; this senior role will mean working closely with the CEO.

Finally, a small management consultancy in Clerkenwell is on the lookout for a professional Editor / Proof Reader (5-7 days/mth) to work on a range of materials from technical process guides to promotional literature, in both the printed and electronic form. Applicants will need experience of both Quark and InDesign, and a knowledge of the oil and gas industry is desired.
