About The Place2Be 
The Place2Be is an award-winning charity that works inside schools to improve the emotional wellbeing of children, their families and the whole school community. The Place2Be takes a comprehensive approach, offering school-based counselling services to children and their parents or carers, accredited training to school staff members, and professional qualifications for those who wish to work therapeutically with children.
Training courses
A range of courses is on offer, from introductory to postgraduate level, for:
* those already working with children who are looking to enhance their communication and listening skills
* parents and carers
* those looking to become professional counsellors for children
Counselling children is not only simply sitting and listening to them. The training courses promote the use of creative and innovative methods to enable children to express themselves and support them in finding ways to flourish.
To experience counselling training first-hand, book your place on a Taster Day with The Place2Be. This new one-day workshop provides you with the opportunity to discover the use of play and creative materials to support counselling and leads to the following training opportunities with The Place2Be:
Introduction to Counselling Skills for Working with Children (Level 2 OCN accredited)
Learn how counselling skills can enhance your communication with children. Next intake: April 2010
Foundation Course in Counselling Skills for Working with Children (Level 3 OCN accredited)
Develop your counselling skills and theory to use when working with and caring for children. Next intake: September 2010
Successful completion of the Foundation Course allows you to become a Volunteer Counsellor in a Place2Be school and to apply for further professional counselling qualifications, including The Place2Be Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling Children in Schools.
The courses run one day a week so are ideal for those wanting to train part-time. They are Open College Network (OCN) accredited, allowing you to gain a nationaly recognised qualification.
